The Dog Barber
This is another shot that I’ve posted before, but since I re-edited it I figured I’d put it up again. We spotted this gentleman on our travels through Rome, outside of a residence on Vicolo del Cedro. He held his dogs with one hand while he trimmed their fur with a pair of scissors in the other, leaving little piles of curls on the cobblestone below. I wonder if those dogs knew how bad it could have turned out for them if they were to fidget or move suddenly during their trim.

Kissing Kitties Redux
As I said yesterday, I’ve re-edited some of my photos from my Italy trip and will be reposting a few here. This is one of them. From my photo essay on The Cats of Largo Argentina in Rome, these are the first two felines I had the pleasure of shooting as they were going in for a peck.
Looking Back on the Dog Days of Summer
This beautiful canine waited patiently for his owner to finish up on the bumper cars at Centre Island, all the while greeting children, charming passersby and sitting obediently.

Who Says Pigs Are Clean?
Have you ever heard someone say, “You know, pigs are one of the cleanest animals”? Evidently, anyone who tells you that is a liar.
Take the above pigs, who I shot at Centre Island. Minutes before this shot was taken I was holding my niece so that she could see over the fence and get a glimpse at the “piggies.” She was so happy to see them, despite the rancid smell that was emanating from the muck they were basking in. I put my niece down and decided to take a shot of the pigs before moving on when one of the ones near the fence stood up, turned in a circle and then belly-flopped back into the muck.
I say muck and not mud because the smell clearly indicated that there was much more than just wet dirt beneath those pigs. When the one flopped back down, he sent a wave of muck my way and it splattered all over my shorts and legs.
I was so angry. I cursed and swore at that pig, once I ensured that my niece was out of earshot. I didn’t feel completely better until I returned home though, and made a ham sandwich.
Barbary Sheep
I shot this photo of a barbary sheep last month in High Park. He was sitting in the shade and not looking too impressed with the heat wave we were enduring at the time. This is a beautiful, graceful, powerful creature and, I’ll add, the easiest animal to shoot. It posed like this until I finished shooting, and when I stood up it turned to grab a drink. A real pro, this sheep.
