Panorama: Old Quebec City Hilltop Including Boardwalk and Chateau Frontenac

I recently bought a new camera, which I took on my trip to Quebec City. It’s a Sony NEX-5, and I liked it not only for its functionality but also its compact size. One of the settings the camera offers is a panorama mode, which I tested for the first time with this shot. It’s a great setting, as all you really need is a steady hand. This shot was taken without a tripod. I was sitting on the hilltop with Kristina when I decided to try it out. I kept my hands as steady and even as possible as the camera guided my movement with an arrow on the viewfinder screen.

It sounds less impressive when you realize that the camera did all the work but, regardless, I was happy with the result. The only thing I’d change is that the shutter on the camera makes repeated loud clicking sounds as it photographs the scene. Otherwise, the camera is an impressive panorama-making machine that helps correct for blur and an unsteady hand, making the results achieved look better than they really had any right to.
